     He graduated from Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, London, England, in 1924.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1940.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1944.¹ He was Commander-in-Chief of the British forces in Singapore in 1954.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1955.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Elizabeth II.¹ He wrote the book Wingate in Peace and War, published 1972.¹
