Montjoy Blount, 1st Earl of Newport1

Montjoy Blount, 1st Earl of Newport was born in 1597. He was the son of Charles Blount, 1st Earl of Devonshire and Lady Penelope Devereux.3 He married Hon. Anne Boteler, daughter of John Boteler, 1st Baron Boteler of Brantfield and Elizabeth Villiers.4 He died in 1665.
He was created 1st Baron Mountjoy [Ireland] on 2 January 1617/18. He was created 1st Baron Mountjoy of Thurveston [England] on 5 June 1627. He was created 1st Earl of Newport, in the Isle of Wight on 27 July 1628. He held the office of Master-General of the Ordnance between 1634 and 1660.3
