     Violet Laird Irvine was the daughter of Colonel James Laird Irvine.¹ She married John Richard Lowndes French, 2nd Earl of Ypres, son of Field Marshal John Denton Pinkstone French, 1st Earl of Ypres and Eleanora Anna Selby-Lowndes, on 4 October 1941.¹ She died on 1 February 1970.¹
