     He was educated at Christ’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Honourable East India Company Service.¹

     Elizabeth Burney was born on 25 January 1793 at Calcutta, India.¹ She was the daughter of Richard Thomas Burney and Jane Ross.¹ She married William Oxborough in 1817 at Calcutta, India.¹ She died on 18 April 1843 at age 50, at sea.¹
     From 1817, her married name became Oxborough.¹

     William Oxborough was born in 1790.¹ He married Elizabeth Burney, daughter of Richard Thomas Burney and Jane Ross, in 1817 at Calcutta, India.¹ He died in 1853.¹

     Charles Burney was born between 1794 and 1795.¹ He was the son of Richard Thomas Burney and Jane Ross.¹ He died in 1795.¹

     Susan Burney was born between 1794 and 1795.¹ She was the daughter of Richard Thomas Burney and Jane Ross.¹ She died in 1795.¹

     Hester Burney was born on 3 February 1796 at Calcutta, India.¹ She was the daughter of Richard Thomas Burney and Jane Ross.¹ She died on 13 August 1863 at age 67 at Paddington, London, England.¹

     James Christian Burney was born on 25 December 1797 at Calcutta, India.¹ He was the son of Richard Thomas Burney and Jane Ross.¹ He died after 1828.¹

     Frances Doveton was born in 1813.¹ She married Maj.-Gen. George Burney, son of Richard Thomas Burney and Jane Ross, on 25 October 1831 at Barrackpore, Bengal, India.¹ She died in 1849.¹

     Amelia Maria Nash married Maj.-Gen. George Burney, son of Richard Thomas Burney and Jane Ross, after 1849.¹ She died in 1902.¹
