     John Gordon-Cuming-Skene, 11th of Pitlurg was born circa 1761. He was the son of John Gordon-Cuming, 10th of Pitlurg.1 He married Lucken Crawfurd, daughter of Sir Hew Crawfurd, 2nd Bt. and Robina Pollock, on 26 December 1782 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He died on 6 April 1828.3
     He was given the name of John Gordon-Cuming at birth.1 In 1815 his name was legally changed to John Gordon-Cuming-Skene on inheriting the Dyse estate.1
