     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northumberland.1 He graduated from St. John’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1841 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He graduated from St. John’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1843 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Rector at Kirkhaugh, Northumberland, England.1 He lived at Clarghyll Hall, Alston, Cumberland, England.1
