     Maria Louisa Hamilton was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Christopher Hamilton and Hon. Sarah Handcock.¹ She married Reverend John Watkins Benn, son of James Benn and Margaret Dunn, on 1 September 1853.¹ She died on 6 April 1917.¹
     From 1 September 1853, her married name became Benn.¹

     James Edward Hamilton Benn was born on 29 October 1860.¹ He was the son of Reverend John Watkins Benn and Maria Louisa Hamilton.¹ He married Marion Wavell, daughter of T. H. Wavell, on 6 August 1910.¹ He died on 11 September 1930 at age 69.¹
     He held the office of Bencher of the Inner Temple.¹

     Marion Wavell is the daughter of T. H. Wavell.¹ She married, firstly, E. J. Adams before 1910.¹ She married, secondly, James Edward Hamilton Benn, son of Reverend John Watkins Benn and Maria Louisa Hamilton, on 6 August 1910.¹
     From before 1910, her married name became Adams.¹ From 6 August 1910, her married name became Benn.¹

     E. J. Adams married Marion Wavell, daughter of T. H. Wavell, before 1910.¹ He died before 1910.¹

     Sir Ion Hamilton Benn, 1st Bt. was born on 31 March 1863.¹ He was the son of Reverend John Watkins Benn and Maria Louisa Hamilton.¹ He married, firstly, Frances Charlotte Bridges, daughter of Nathaniel Bridges, on 3 February 1885.¹ He married, secondly, Katharine Winifred Grier, daughter of Brockwell Grier, on 25 August 1950.² He died on 4 August 1956 at age 93.¹
     He was educated at Merchant Taylors’ School, London, England.¹ He held the office of Mayor of Greenwich between 1901 and 1902.¹ He held the office of Member of London City Council between 1907 and 1910, for Greenwich.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Greenwich between 1910 and 1922.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy Volunteers Reserve.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, where he was mentioned in dispatches three times.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.¹ He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1918.¹ He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.)¹ He was created 1st Baronet Benn, of Rollesby, co. Norfolk [U.K.] on 17 June 1920.¹ He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1926.¹

     Frances Charlotte Bridges was the daughter of Nathaniel Bridges.¹ She married Sir Ion Hamilton Benn, 1st Bt., son of Reverend John Watkins Benn and Maria Louisa Hamilton, on 3 February 1885.¹ She died on 23 April 1948.¹
     From 3 February 1885, her married name became Benn.¹
