Maj.-Gen. Charles Calvert, 3rd Baron Baltimore was born on 27 August 1637.1 He was the son of Cecil Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore and Hon. Anne Arundell.1 He married, firstly, Mary Darnall, daughter of Ralph Darnall, before 1666.1 He married, secondly, Jane Lowe, daughter of Vincent Lowe and Anne Cavendish, circa 1666.1 He married, thirdly, Mary Bankes between 1701 and 1710.1 He married, fourthly, Margaret Charleton, daughter of Thomas Charleton, in 1712.1 He died on 21 February 1714/15 at age 77.1 He was buried on 24 February 1714/15 at St. Pancras, London, EnglandG.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 20 May 1715.1
He held the office of Governor of Maryland between 1661 and 1675.3 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Baltimore, of Baltimore [I., 1625] in December 1675.1 He held the office of Governor of Maryland in 1676.3 He held the office of Governor of Maryland between 1679 and 1684.3 In 1689 he was deprived of the province of Maryland in the Revolution of 1689.3 In 1691 he was outlawed by the Wexford Grand Jury.3 On 25 January 1691/92 his outlawing was reversed by the King.3 In August 1692 he inherited the estate of Woodcote Park in Epson, and Horton, under the will of a relative of his grandmother, Anne Mynne.1 In 1694 he was named in the fabricated plot of Titus Oates and in the Lancashire Plot, but was not arrested.3 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in 1696.3 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1704.3 His last will was dated 29 July 1714.
