     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was created 1st Baronet Adam, of Blair Adam, co. Kinross [U.K.] in 1882.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Kinross-shire between 1893 and 1909.1
