Sir John Gell, 1st Bt. was born on 22 June 1593.1 He was the son of Thomas Gell and Millicent Sacheverell.3 He married, secondly, Mary Radclyffe, daughter of Sir John Radclyffe.3 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Willoughby, daughter of Sir Percival Willoughby and Bridget Willoughby, in 1612.3 He died on 26 October 1671 at age 78.1
