     He was given the name of John Picton Picton-Warlow at birth.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Madras Staff Corps.² In 1891 his name was legally changed to John Picton-Turbervill.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Glamorgan in 1896.¹
