     Lt.-Gen. John Henry Melville Babington was born on 31 July 1816 at Tamil Nadu, India.¹ He was the son of John Babington and Eliza Roebuck.¹ He married Mary Jane Dowker on 20 September 1853 at Madras, India.¹ He died on 8 December 1887 at age 71 at Bideford, Devon, England.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the 29th Madras Native Infantry Regiment.¹

     Maj.-Gen. Richard Clarke Babington was born on 9 August 1827 at Mangalore, Madras, India.¹ He was the son of John Babington and Jane (?)¹ He died on 3 September 1885 at age 58 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.¹
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Madras Staff Corps.¹
