     Sir John Lawrence Langman, 1st Bt. was born on 24 June 1846.¹ He was the son of Joseph Langman and Eleanor James Lawrence.¹ He married Mary Hannah Marks, daughter of James Marks, on 17 September 1868.² He died on 3 October 1928 at age 82.²
     He equipped and maintained the Langman Field Hospital during the Boer War, and was mentioned in dispatches.¹ He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.)¹ He was created 1st Baronet Langman, of Eaton Square in the City of Westminster [U.K.] on 21 July 1906.¹
