     He was educated at University of Cape Town, Cape Town, Cape Province, South AfricaG.1 He was founder of director of the National Centre for Social Research.1 He was Professor for the Centre for Comparative Social Surveys at City University, London, England.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 2001.1 He was appointed Knight in 2008.1
