     Margaret Smith was the daughter of William Smith.¹ She married James Burns, son of Reverend John Burns and Elizabeth Stevenson.¹ She died, without issue.²

     He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)¹ He was Regius Porfessor of Surgery at Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹

     Isabella Duncan was the daughter of Reverend John Duncan.¹ She married John Burns, son of Reverend John Burns and Elizabeth Stevenson, on 27 April 1801.¹ She died in 1810.¹
     From 27 April 1801, her married name became Burns.¹
