     James Gough was born on 27 December 1712 at Kendal, Westmorland, England.1 He was the son of John Gough and Mary (?)1 He married Mary Dobbs, daughter of John Dobbs, in 1737.1 He married Elizabeth Barnes on 10 April 1751 at Mondrahid, County Laois, Ireland.1 He died on 6 October 1780 at age 67 at Cork, County Cork, Ireland.1
     He lived at Cole Alley, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He was educated at Friends’ School, Kendal, Westmorland, England.1
