General Sir Robert Cadell1 
General Sir Robert Cadell was born on 13 February 1825.1 He was the son of Hugh Francis Cadell and Janet Marion Sydserff.1 He married Elizabeth Douglas Cunningham, daughter of Reverend William Bruce Cunningham and Cecilia Margaret Douglas, on 26 November 1889 at Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland.3 He died on 4 August 1897 at age 72 at Cockenzie House, Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland.1
He was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was commissioned on 11 June 1842, in the service of the Madras Artillery.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Turkish Contingent.1 He fought in the Crimean War in 1855.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1881.1 He gained the rank of General in 1883.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1894.1
