     Donald Maclean, 1st of Ardgour is the son of Lachlan ‘Bronnach’ Maclean, 4th of Duart and unknown daughter Macearchan.1 He married Evere Cameron, daughter of Ewen Cameron of Lochiel.2
     He seized the MacMasters’ lands of Ardgour, which in 1432 he was formally granted by his cousin Alexander, 3rd Lord of the Isles (with royal confirmation in 1494.)2 He was also known as Domnhall Maclean.2
