Alexander Grant1

     Alexander Grant was the son of Robert Grant and unknown daughter Chisholm.1 He married Margaret Macbean, daughter of Donald Macbean.1 He died in 1762 at Havanna, Cuba, during the siege.1
     Alexander Grant also went by the nick-name of ‘the Swordsman’.1 He fought in the Battle of Culloden on 16 April 1746, where he was wounded fighting for Prince Charles Edward.1 He was commissioned in 1757 with the rank of Ensign, in the service of the 77th or Montgomeries Highland Regiment.1 He went to Cuba with the regiment.1
