Colonel William Staveley Gordon1 
He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was commissioned in September 1881, in the service of the Royal Marine Artillery.1 He gained the rank of officer in December 1885 in the Egyptian Army.1 He fought in the Dongola Expedition in 1896.1 He fought in the Sudan Campaign between 1896 and 1900.1
