     G/Capt. Arthur Regester Fane de Salis was born on 18 November 1911.¹ He was the son of Sir Cecil Fane de Salis and Rachel Elizabeth Frances Waller.¹ He married Nancy Mary Welch, daughter of Captain Gerald Hubbard Welch, on 9 January 1937.¹ He died on 24 March 2001 at age 89.¹
     He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England.² He gained the rank of Group Captain in the Royal Air Force.² He fought in the Second World War.² He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1944.² He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1959 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Worcestershire in 1963.²

     Nancy Mary Welch was born on 5 May 1911.¹ She was the daughter of Captain Gerald Hubbard Welch.² She married G/Capt. Arthur Regester Fane de Salis, son of Sir Cecil Fane de Salis and Rachel Elizabeth Frances Waller, on 9 January 1937.¹ She died on 1 November 2001 at age 90.¹
     From 9 January 1937, her married name became Fane de Salis.¹
