Sir Robert Christopher Mackworth-Young was born on 12 February 1920.2 He is the son of Gerard Mackworth-Young and Natalie Leila Margaret Hely Hutchinson.1 He married Helen Editha Rosemarie Aue, daughter of Werner Charles Rudolf Aue, on 17 December 1953.2 He died on 5 December 2000 at age 80.2
     S/Ldr. Sir Robert Christopher Mackworth-Young also went by the nick-name of Robin.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, in the Middle East and Normandy.1 He gained the rank of Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1 He held the office of President of Cambridge Union in 1948.1 He graduated from King’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from King’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1952 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was Librarian of Windsor Castle and Assistant Keeper of the Royal Archives between 1958 and 1985.1 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) in 1961.1 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1968.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1975.2 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1975.1 He wrote the book The History and Treasures of Windsor Castle, published 1982.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 1985.1 He wrote the book Windsor Castle, published 1989.1
