Henry Edward Hugh Pelham-Clinton-Hope, 9th Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne was born on 8 April 1907.3 He was the son of Henry Francis Hope Pelham-Clinton-Hope, 8th Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne and Olive Muriel Thompson.3 He married, firstly, Jean Banks, daughter of David Banks, on 23 March 1931.3 He married, secondly, Lady Mary Diana Montagu-Stuart-Wortley, daughter of Archibald Ralph Montagu-Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, 3rd Earl of Wharncliffe and Lady Maud Lillian Elfreda Mary Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, on 30 November 1946.1 He and Lady Mary Diana Montagu-Stuart-Wortley were divorced in 1959.1 He married, thirdly, Sally Ann Wemyss Anstice, daughter of Brigadier John Henry Anstice and Sydney Williamson, on 23 October 1959.3 He and Jean Banks were divorced in 1940.3 He died on 4 November 1988 at age 81.4

Lady Mary Diana Montagu-Stuart-Wortley was born on 2 June 1920.4 She was the daughter of Archibald Ralph Montagu-Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, 3rd Earl of Wharncliffe and Lady Maud Lillian Elfreda Mary Wentworth-Fitzwilliam.1,4 She married Henry Edward Hugh Pelham-Clinton-Hope, 9th Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne, son of Henry Francis Hope Pelham-Clinton-Hope, 8th Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne and Olive Muriel Thompson, on 30 November 1946.1 She and Henry Edward Hugh Pelham-Clinton-Hope, 9th Duke of Newcastle-under-Lyne were divorced in 1959.1 She died on 19 September 1997 at age 77.1
Lady Mary Diana Montagu-Stuart-Wortley usually went by her middle name of Diana.1 She was with the MTC during the Second World War.4 From 30 November 1946, her married name became Pelham-Clinton-Hope.
