He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Young, of Dominica, West Indies [G.B., 1769] on 27 June 1842.1 He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.1 He gained the rank of 1st Lieutenant in 1852 in the 23rd Foot (Royal Welch Fusiliers.)1 He fought in the Crimean War.3

He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.2 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Young, of Dominica, West Indies [G.B., 1769] on 22 October 1854.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1862 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1865 entitled to practise as a barrister.2 He was Commissioner of Copyholders between 1876 and 1877.2 He was vice-chairman of Grand Trunk Railway of Canada between 1879 and 1897.1 He wrote the book Jim the Penman, a play, published 1886.2
