(Conservative) for Grimsby between 1924 and 1945.1 He was appointed Knight in 1934.1 He held the office of Assistant Postmaster-General between 1935 and 1939.1 He held the office of Minister of Pensions between 1939 and 1945.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1941.1 He was created 1st Baronet Womersley, of Grimsby, co. Lincoln [U.K.] on 3 September 1945.1 He was President of National Chamber of Trade in 1946.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Yorkshire.1
