     Captain Charles Bernard Petre was born on 3 January 1870.1 He was the son of Sir George Glynn Petre and Emma Katharine Julia Sneyd.1 He married Muriel Rosalind Anderson, daughter of William D. Anderson, on 2 February 1903.1 He died on 20 February 1949 at age 79.1
     He was educated at Military College, Gosport, Hampshire, England.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 60th King’s Royal Rifle Corps.1 He fought in the First World War, with East Lancashire Regiment.1
