     William Martin-Leake was born in 1831 at Marylebone, London, England.1,2 He was the son of Stephen Ralph Martin-Leake and Georgeana Stevens.1 He married Louisa Harriet Tennant, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Sir James Tennant and Elizabeth Paterson, on 6 December 1862 at Galle, Sri Lanka.1,2 He died on 25 August 1918.1
     He was a civil engineer.2

     From 6 December 1862, her married name became Martin-Leake.1
