     George Crichton Wells was born on 13 July 1914.¹ He was the son of Sir Sydney Richard Wells, 1st Bt. and Mary Dorothy Maltby.² He married Margaret Caroline Bruce, daughter of Dr. Lewis Campbell Bruce, on 10 October 1951.¹ He died on 16 January 1999 at age 84.³
