     John Hewett was baptised on 29 October 1786 at Illfracombe, Devon, England.2,1 He was the son of William Hewett and Mary (?)1 He married Frances Thornewell on 6 November 1829 at Burton Upon Trent, Staffordshire, England.1 He died on 17 May 1868 at age 81 at Pontypridd, Wales.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Marines.2 He gained the rank of Major on 8 November 1861 in the 3rd Glamorganshire Artillery Volunteers.1

     Frederick Platt-Higgins was born in 1840.1 He was the son of James Higgins and Elizabeth Meban.1 He married Mary Emily Mottram in 1864.1 He died on 6 November 1910.1
     He was given the name of Frederick Higgins at birth.1 In 1889 his name was legally changed to Frederick Platt-Higgins by Royal Licence.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Salford North between 1895 and 1906.1
