     Sir Arthur Munro Sutherland, 1st Bt. was born on 2 October 1867.¹ He was the son of Benjamin John Sutherland and Mary Ann Proud.² He married, firstly, Fanny Linda Haggie, daughter of Robert Hood Haggie, on 7 June 1893.¹ He married, secondly, Ella Bertha Louise Christensen on 19 October 1938.¹ He died on 30 March 1953 at age 85.¹
     He was educated at Newcastle Grammar School, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England.¹ He was a shipowner and coal exporter.¹ He held the office of Lord-Mayor of Newcastle-upon-Tyne between 1918 and 1919.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1920.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Sutherland [U.K.] on 16 June 1921.¹ He was director of John Bowes and Partners, Barnett Brothers, London Donkin & Company and North of England Protecting & Indemnity Association.¹ He was Governing Director of B. J. Sutherland & Company and Newcastle Commercial Exchange.¹ He graduated from Durham University, Durham, County Durham, England, in 1932 with a Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.)¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Northumberland.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Newcastle.¹ He was appointed Knight of Grace, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.)¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1943.¹

     Robert Hood Haggie lived at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England.¹

     Fanny Linda Haggie was the daughter of Robert Hood Haggie.² She married Sir Arthur Munro Sutherland, 1st Bt., son of Benjamin John Sutherland and Mary Ann Proud, on 7 June 1893.¹ She died on 28 October 1937.¹

     Arthur Munro Sutherland was born on 13 August 1894.¹ He was the son of Sir Arthur Munro Sutherland, 1st Bt. and Fanny Linda Haggie.² He married Nina Marguerite Crawshay Wimble, daughter of Arthur Skelton Wimble, on 2 November 1921.¹ He died on 1 November 1941 at age 47.¹
     He was educated at Mill Hill, Hendon, London, England.¹
