     He was (an unknown value) at Thurso House, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England.¹

     Joseph Proud lived at Carrs Hill, County Durham, England.¹

     Mary Ann Proud was the daughter of Joseph Proud.² She married Benjamin John Sutherland, son of Benjamin Sutherland and Allison Johnson Munro, on 16 September 1859.¹ She died on 24 December 1901.¹
     From 16 September 1859, her married name became Sutherland.

     Joseph William Sutherland was born on 2 April 1863.¹ He was the son of Benjamin John Sutherland and Mary Ann Proud.² He died on 21 April 1896 at age 33.¹

     Herbert Stanley Sutherland was born on 13 November 1869.¹ He was the son of Benjamin John Sutherland and Mary Ann Proud.² He married Mary Lamb, daughter of James Lamb, on 19 June 1901.¹ He died on 20 May 1953 at age 83.¹
