     Brigadier Honoré-Armand de Villars, 2nd Duc de Villars was born on 4 October 1702 at Paris, France.1 He was the son of Louis-Hector Villars, Marquis de Villars and Jeanne-Angelique de la Roque de Varengeville.2 He married Amable Gabrielle de Noailles, daughter of Adrien Maurice de Noailles, 3rd Duc de Noailles and Françoise Charlotte Amable d‘Aubigné, on 5 August 1721.1 He died in May 1772 at age 69 at Aix-en-Provence, France.1
     He held the office of Governor of Provence between 1734 and 1770.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Golden Fleece.1
