     Lt.-Gen. Sir James Lyon was born posthumously in 1775.1 He was the son of Captain James Lyon and Mary Hamilton.1 He married Anne Coxe, daughter of Edward Coxe.1 He died on 16 October 1842.1
     He was educated at Göttingen University, Göttingen, GermanyG.1 He was commander of the Hanoverian Brigade in 1815.1 He fought in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1815.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Hanoverian Order (G.C.H.) in 1817.1 He was Equerry to HRH Duke of Cambridge.1 He held the office of Governor of Barbados between 1828 and 1833.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1830.1
