Major Peter Richard Legh, 4th Baron Newton 
Major Peter Richard Legh, 4th Baron Newton was born on 6 April 1915.2 He was the son of Richard William Davenport Legh, 3rd Baron Newton and Hon. Helen Winifred Meysey-Thompson.3 He married Priscilla Egerton-Warburton, daughter of Captain John Egerton-Warburton and Hon. Lettice Legh, on 6 July 1948.2 He died on 16 June 1992 at age 77.2,4
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1937 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He gained the rank of Major in the Grenadier Guards.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1947 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He held the office of Member of Hampshire County Council between 1949 and 1952.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire in 1951.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Petersfield between 1951 and 1960.2 He held the office of Member of Hampshire County Council between 1954 and 1955.2 He was Captain, Yeomen of the Guard between 1960 and 1962.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Newton, of Newton-in-Makerfield, co. Lancaster [U.K., 1892] on 11 June 1960.3 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary, Health between 1962 and 1964.2 He held the office of Minister of State, Education and Science between April 1964 and October 1964.2
