     Maria Emma Georgina Preston is the daughter of Captain Thomas Henry Preston and Georgina Geneviève Louisa Campbell.1 She married William Ulick O’Connor Cuffe, 4th Earl of Desart, son of Otway O’Conner Cuffe, 3rd Earl of Desart and Lady Elizabeth Lucy Campbell, on 1 June 1871.1 She and William Ulick O’Connor Cuffe, 4th Earl of Desart were divorced in 1878.1
     After her marriage, Maria Emma Georgina Preston was styled as Countess of Desart on 1 June 1871. From 1 June 1871, her married name became Cuffe.
