     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Dragoons.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1983.1
