Aberdeen [N.S., 1684] on 16 February 1818.1 He was a practising advocate in 1831.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Aberdeenshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Aberdeenshire.1 He lived at Pitmedden, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1

He fought in the Abyssinia and Burma campaigns.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 102nd Regiment.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny.1 He was awarded the Order of the Iron Cross, 2nd Class of Prussia in 1870 for saving life on the battlefield of the Franco-Prussian War.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Seton, of Pitmedden, co. Aberdeen [N.S., 1684] on 30 December 1880.1
