     He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Engineers.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)¹ He was Chief Engineer of Gibraltar between 1923 and 1926.¹

     Sybil Dorothy Mitchell was the daughter of John Mitchell.² She married Duncan Alexander Forbes, son of Alexander Mansfield Forbes and Mary Antoinette Forbes, on 15 January 1918.¹ She died on 27 May 1948.¹

     Sheila Morton is the daughter of Reverend Clement John Morton.² She married Duncan Forbes, son of Duncan Alexander Forbes and Sybil Dorothy Mitchell, on 21 August 1947.¹
     From 21 August 1947, her married name became Forbes. She lived in 2003 at 18 Thornton Close, Girton, Cambridgeshire, England.¹

     Duncan Alastair Forbes was born on 22 August 1949.¹ He is the son of Duncan Forbes and Sheila Morton.² He married Angela Sargent, daughter of Francis Ralph Sargent, in July 1971.¹
