     Richard Bowen Woosnam was born on 5 January 1881 at St. Andrews, Holborn, London, England.¹ He was the son of Bowen Pottinger Woosnam and Kate Evans.¹ He died on 4 June 1915 at age 34 at Gallipoli, Turkey, killed in action.²
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.¹ He fought in the Boer War.¹ He gained the rank of officer in the 4th Welsh Militia.¹ He toured the Cape Colony, Bechuanaland, Orange River and Vaal Rivers on behalf of the British Museum.¹ In 1905 he accompanied Colonel Bailward ona tour from teh Persian Gulf through to Armenia, collecting mammals and birds for the British Museum.¹ He explored the Mountains of the Moon in Equatorial Africa.¹ He was awarded the Silver Medal of the Royal Zoological Society.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 6th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment.² He fought in the First World War.²

     Kate Marjorie Woosnam was born in 1877 at Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales.¹ She was the daughter of Bowen Pottinger Woosnam and Kate Evans.¹ She married Brig.-Gen. Randall Plunkett Tayler Hawksley, son of James Taylor Hawksley and Emily Julia Price, in 1900 at Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.¹
     From 1900, her married name became Hawksley.¹

     Mary Dorothy Woosnam was born in 1879 at London, England.¹ She was the daughter of Bowen Pottinger Woosnam and Kate Evans.¹

     Sarah (?) was born circa 1819 at Blaina, Monmouthshire, Wales.¹ She married William Evans.¹
     Her married name became Evans.¹

     Rachel G. Evans was born in 1859 at Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales.¹ She was the daughter of William Evans and Sarah (?)¹
