     Maria Janet Sempill, Lady Sempill was born in 1790.1 She was the daughter of Hugh Sempill, 14th Lord Sempill and Mary Mellish.2 She married Edward Sempill on 14 January 1836.1 She died on 5 September 1884, without surviving issue.1
     She succeeded as the 16th Lady Sempill [S., 1488] on 4 May 1835.1
