     Mary Henrietta Stapleton-Bretherton was born in July 1906.¹ She was the daughter of Frederick Bartholomew Joseph Stapleton-Bretherton and Bertha Mary Philippa Stourton.¹ She married Brigadier John Pell Archer-Shee, son of Lt.-Col. Sir Martin Archer-Shee, in 1940.² She and Brigadier John Pell Archer-Shee were divorced in 1953.² She died in 1995.¹
     From 1940, her married name became Archer-Shee.²

     Brigadier John Pell Archer-Shee was born in 1906. He is the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Martin Archer-Shee.² He married, firstly, Mary Henrietta Stapleton-Bretherton, daughter of Frederick Bartholomew Joseph Stapleton-Bretherton and Bertha Mary Philippa Stourton, in 1940.³ He and Mary Henrietta Stapleton-Bretherton were divorced in 1953.³ He married, secondly, Diana Nancy Boyd-Rochfort, daughter of Lt.-Col. Harold Boyd-Rochfort and Winifred Akroyd, on 22 July 1953.¹
     He was educated at The Oratory School, Edgbaston, Warwickshire, England.⁴ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)² He gained the rank of Colonel in the 10th Hussars.²

     Mary Pauline Archer-Shee was born in 1941.¹ She was the daughter of Brigadier John Pell Archer-Shee and Mary Henrietta Stapleton-Bretherton.¹ She died on 29 November 2014.²
     She lived at 44 Cornwall Gardens, London, England.¹

     Robert Charles Lucius Stapleton-Bretherton was born on 31 August 1875. He was the son of Frederick Annesley Stapleton-Bretherton and Hon. Isabella Mary Petre. He died in January 1902 at age 26 at South Africa^G, killed in action.
     He fought in the Boer War.

     Edmund Joseph Stapleton-Bretherton was born on 19 March 1881. He was the son of Frederick Annesley Stapleton-Bretherton and Hon. Isabella Mary Petre. He married Elizabeth Marion Heron-Maxwell, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Henry Stopford Heron-Maxwell of Teviot Bank and Adeline Helen Hanbury, on 7 October 1919.¹ He died on 29 August 1946 at age 65.¹
     He lived at Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.¹

     Elizabeth Marion Heron-Maxwell is the daughter of Lt.-Col. William Henry Stopford Heron-Maxwell of Teviot Bank and Adeline Helen Hanbury.² She married Edmund Joseph Stapleton-Bretherton, son of Frederick Annesley Stapleton-Bretherton and Hon. Isabella Mary Petre, on 7 October 1919.¹
     Her married name became Stapleton-Bretherton.

     Lt.-Col. William Henry Stopford Heron-Maxwell of Teviot Bank was born on 1 July 1852 at Kiroughtrie, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland^G.² He was the son of Edward Heron-Maxwell-Blair of Teviot Bank and Elizabeth Ellen Stopford-Blair.² He married Adeline Helen Hanbury, daughter of Osgood Hanbury, on 26 February 1884.¹ He died on 23 May 1927 at age 74 at Minto, Roxburghshire, Scotland^G.²
     He was given the name of William Henry Stopford Heron-Maxwell-Blair at birth.³ He fought in the Zulu War, and was mentioned in despatches.¹ He fought in the First Boer War in 1881.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Fusiliers.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the South-East of Scotland Artillery.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Roxburghshire.¹ He lived at Teviot Bank, Roxburghshire, Scotland^G.
