Hereford [U.K., 1898] on 10 September 1931.1 On 8 April 1932 his name was legally changed to Hubert Charles Rhys Stewart Rankin by deed poll.1 He was 1st British Delegate at the 1st Pan-European Muslim Conference in 1935 at Geneva, Switzerland.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was President of the British Muslim Society.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Indian Army Service Corps.1 He was Vice-President of the World Buddhist Association in 1946.1 In August 1946 his name was legally changed to Hubert Charles Rhys Rankin by Scottish licence.1 He was a councillor in 1948 at Blairgowrie and Rattray, Perthshire, Scotland.1 He held the office of County Councillor (C.C.) for Perthshire in 1949.1 He was a member of the Standing Council of Baronetage between 1979 and 1988.1
