     He was Colonel of the 9th Regimental District, 1st Provisional Regiment of Hussars and formerly 4th Hussars.1

Frank William Ramsay1

     Frank William Ramsay was born on 10 December 1875.1 He was the son of Brig.-Gen. William Alexander Ramsay and Susan Newcombe Minchener.2 He married Amy Frances Hohler, daughter of Frederick Scott Hohler and Frances Amelia Preston, on 5 December 1929.1 He died on 1 October 1954 at age 78, without issue.1
     He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Madras between 1898 and 1900.1 He fought in the South African War between 1901 and 1902, he received a medal with five clasps.1 He fought in the First World War|he was mentioned in despatches seven times, wounded twice and given two brevets.1 He was Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.1 He gained the rank of Brigade Commander between 1916 and 1918.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1917.1 He gained the rank of Division Commander between 1918 and 1919.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1919.1 He was Commander of the 6th Infantry Brigade between 1919 and 1923 at Aldershot, Hampshire, England.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre (France.)1 He was Commander of the 20th Indian Infantry Brigade between 1925 and 1926.1 He was Commander of the 5th Quetta Infantry Brigade between 1926 and 1929.1 He was awarded the Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus of Italy.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Major-General in the Middlesex Regiment.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dorset.1
