He was a cotton manufacturer.1 He was an educational philanthropist.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1907.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1910.1 He succeeded as the 1st Baronet Ranchhodlal, of Shalpur, Ahmedabad, India [U.K.] on 6 February 1913. He was the first Hindu created a baronet.1 He lived at Shahpur House, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.1

Yorkshire [U.K., 1911] on 20 October 1922.1 On 28 October 1922 his name was legally changed to Prince Prince-Smith by deed poll.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1934.1
