     Sampson Stawell was born in September 1741.2 He was the son of Jonas Stawell.2 He married Esther Bernard, daughter of James Bernard and Esther Smith, on 2 December 1775.1 He died circa 2 January 1819.1 He was buried on 5 January 1819 at Rathclaren, Ireland.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Bandon Cavalry.1 His last will was dated 21 June 1815.1
