He gained the rank of Brigade Major in 1914.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice and was wounded twice.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 1st Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 3rd Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Dashwood, of Northbrook, Oxfordshire [E., 1684] on 1 September 1933.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Oxfordshire.1
