     Arthur John Layard was born on 18 July 1819.¹ He was the son of Henry Peter John Layard and Marianne Austen.¹ He died on 7 August 1855 at age 36 at Balaclava, Russia, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the Crimean War.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the 38th Regiment.¹

     Bernard Julian Layard was born on 25 November 1820.¹ He was the son of Henry Peter John Layard and Marianne Austen.¹ He died on 12 August 1821.¹

     Peregrine Edward Layard was born on 16 February 1822.¹ He was the son of Henry Peter John Layard and Marianne Austen.¹ He died on 17 February 1822.¹

     Edgar Leopold Layard was born on 23 July 1824 at Florence, Italy.¹ He was the son of Henry Peter John Layard and Marianne Austen.¹ He married, firstly, Barbara Anne Calthrop, daughter of Reverend John Calthrop, on 18 October 1848.¹ He married, secondly, Jane Catherine Blackhall, daughter of General Robert Blackhall, in 1887.¹ He died on 1 January 1900 at age 75.¹
     He was with H.M. Ceylon Civil Service.¹ He was Private Secretary to the Governor of the Cape of Good Hope.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1874.¹ He was Administrator of Fiji Islands Government between 1874 and 1875.¹ He was H.B.M. Consul to Noumea, New Caledonia between 1876 and 1890.¹ He was founder and curator of the South African Museum.¹ He lived at Otterbourne, Budleigh Salterton, Devon, England.¹

     Barbara Anne Calthrop was the daughter of Reverend John Calthrop.¹ She married Edgar Leopold Layard, son of Henry Peter John Layard and Marianne Austen, on 18 October 1848.¹ She died on 14 June 1886.¹
     From 18 October 1848, her married name became Layard.¹

     Reverend John Calthrop was the Vicar at Gosberton, Lincolnshire, England.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹

     Edgar Leopold Calthorp Layard was born on 21 September 1848.¹ He was the son of Edgar Leopold Layard and Barbara Anne Calthrop.¹
     He was H.B.M. Vice-Consul in Fiji.¹

     Jane Catherine Blackhall was the daughter of General Robert Blackhall.¹ She married, firstly, James Augustus Graham, son of Robert Fuller Graham and Harriet Jordon, on 9 April 1860.^1,2 She married, secondly, Edgar Leopold Layard, son of Henry Peter John Layard and Marianne Austen, in 1887.¹ She died in 1910.¹
     From 9 April 1860, her married name became Graham.¹ From 1887, her married name became Layard.¹

     General Robert Blackhall gained the rank of General in the Honourable East India Company Service.¹

     James Augustus Graham was born in 1837 at Greenham, Berkshire, England.² He was the son of Robert Fuller Graham and Harriet Jordon.² He married Jane Catherine Blackhall, daughter of General Robert Blackhall, on 9 April 1860.^1,2 He died on 14 June 1860, at sea on Golconda.^1,2
     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.² He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.² He was with the Bengal Civil Service.¹
