     Sarah Lea Maitland was born on 10 July 1852.¹ She was the daughter of Stuart Cairns Maitland and Margaret Shippen.¹ She died on 28 April 1938 at age 85.¹

     Ellinor Frances Scott is the daughter of Thomas Gray Scott.¹ She married David Maitland, son of Stuart Cairns Maitland and Margaret Shippen, on 17 October 1872.¹
     From 17 October 1872, her married name became Maitland.¹

     Thomas Gray Scott was a practising Writer to the Signet (W.S.)¹

     Julia Hassard is the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Fairfax Hassard.¹ She married David Maitland, son of Stuart Cairns Maitland and Margaret Shippen, on 10 December 1907.¹
     From 10 December 1907, her married name became Maitland.¹

     Maj.-Gen. Fairfax Hassard gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Engineers.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)¹

     Stuart Cairns Maitland was born on 19 October 1873.¹ He was the son of David Maitland and Ellinor Frances Scott.¹ He died on 23 February 1900 at age 26 at Ladysmith, Natal, South Africa, killed in action.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Gordon Highlanders.¹ He fought in the Relief of Ladysmith on 23 February 1900.¹

     Major Claud Archibald Scott Maitland was born on 12 November 1874.¹ He was the son of David Maitland and Ellinor Frances Scott.¹ He married Cecil Louise MacKenzie, daughter of Colin James MacKenzie, 4th of Portmore, on 12 June 1912.¹ He died in 1942.²
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England^G.¹ He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He gained the rank of Major and Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in the Gordon Highlanders.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.¹

     Graham McDonald Maitland was born on 20 May 1879.¹ He was the son of David Maitland and Ellinor Frances Scott.¹ He died on 31 October 1914 at age 35 at Flanders, France^G, killed in action.¹
     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Irish Guards.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹

     Ellinor Isabelle Maitland is the daughter of David Maitland and Ellinor Frances Scott.¹
