Eustace George Hill and Cecilia Wheatley Eliott, on 15 December 1881 at Aurangabad, Madras, India^G.¹ He married, secondly, Annie Lonsdale, daughter of John Gylby Lonsdale and Sarah Martineau Jardine, in 1890 at Lichfield, Staffordshire, England^G.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Engineers.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)¹

     Maj.-Gen. Hugh Keppel Bethell was baptised on 10 December 1882 at Quidenham, Norfolk, England^G.¹ He was the son of Colonel Edward Hugh Bethell and Gertrude Hill.¹ He died in 1947.¹
     Maj.-Gen. Hugh Keppel Bethell also went by the nick-name of Beetle.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.¹ He was Commander of the 1 Northamptonshire Regiment, Western Front between 1915 and 1916.¹ He was Commander of the 74 Brigade, 25 Division, Western Front between 1917 and 1918.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹ He was Commander of the 66 Division between 1918 and 1919.¹ He was Military Attaché to Washington between 1919 and 1923.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the 7th Queen’s Own Hussars.¹ He was Commander of the 2 Rhine Brigade, British Army on the Rhine between 1924 and 1928.¹ He was Brigadier of the Northern Command, India between 1928 and 1930.¹ He was Commander of the Presidency and Assam District, India between 1930 and 1934.¹

     Gertrude Hill was born in 1861.¹ She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Eustace George Hill and Cecilia Wheatley Eliott.¹ She married Colonel Edward Hugh Bethell, son of William Froggatt Bethell and Elizabeth Beckett-Denison, on 15 December 1881 at Aurangabad, Madras, India^G.¹ She died in 1888.¹
     From 15 December 1881, her married name became Bethell.¹

     John Martineau married Marriott Margaret Bunny.¹

     Her married name became Martineau.¹

     Crispin Martin Harding-Rolls is the son of Major Christopher Harding-Rolls.¹ He married Victoria Jane Cubitt, daughter of Sir Hugh Guy Cubitt and Linda Ishbel Campbell.¹

     Christopher Bethell was born in 1884.¹ He was the son of Colonel Edward Hugh Bethell and Gertrude Hill.¹ He died on 20 February 1916, killed in action.¹
     He fought in the First World War, and was mentioned in despatches.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.¹
