     He fought in the First World War, with the Indian Army Cavalry and Machine Gun Corps.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers’ Decoration (V.R.D.)1 He was with the Control Commission Germany in 1945.1
